Today, March 4, has been designated a Day of Peace. For twenty four hours, we are asked to think kind thoughts, refrain from speaking against others, put out positive intentions for ourselves and our community, be it the neighborhood, nation and/or world.
Today is the New Moon in Pisces. Any New Moon is an excellent time to plant seeds for the forthcoming month which may then grow over the year and time to come. That the Day of Peace falls on the New Moon in Pisces is magical. Pisces, a water sign, gives us the opportunity to cleanse ourselves and our thoughts in order to dream and imagine, follow our intuition, the ultimate goal being unity, with ourselves, our fellow man and our God center. This is the message of John Lennon's song, "Imagine", and as he sang with Piscean Beatle bandmate George Harrison, "Give Peace a Chance."
As human beings evolve, we learn we are not so different from one another: That we share common traits and differences; that what we dislike in someone else is the very aspect of ourselves we disown and do not see. As the last sign of the zodiac, watery Pisces reflects the collective conscious and unconscious. It is the totality of humanity, good, bad and everything in between. Not only are today's Sun and Moon in Pisces, these are joined in by asteroid Chiron - the wounded healer, Mars, Mercury and Uranus, creating a powerful group of planets to cleanse and heal our world.
Like bookends, activating all of this energy on either end of the planets in Pisces are titans Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter, planet of blessings and goodwill, leads the charge through Aries, blazing a trail for us to follow. Opposite Jupiter is Saturn in the sign of Libra, ensuring balance and justice...that any change and upheaval will be kept in check. In the middle of these two, Pluto keeps watch in Capricorn, overturning and exposing anything hidden to maximize honesty and integrity, especially in government and big business. In otherwords: keeping everyone honest.
Consider the recent events in North Africa. Long-standing dictators in Egypt and Libya are deposed or on the brink of being toppled. This revolution has been an enormous Piscean wave surging through the continent, beginning with tiny Tunisia and threatening to spread in the other direction toward Iran.
At home in the US, utter chaos and bedlam has broken out in Madison, Wisconsin, where the statehouse was occupied by protestors continuously for the last two weeks, while the governor seeks to slash an unprecedented four billion from the budget, targeting government worker unions that he claims will bankrupt the state. All of this activity builds to a head toward March 11, when Uranus moves into Aries, joining Jupiter. The effect will be like lightning striking dry grass.
Prepare for surprises in your world; things get shaken or stirred in the next month! May blessings abound. Remember, this immense momentum is to prompt change and new growth. At this pivotal moment on the New Moon, take time to set your intentions for the highest good. Envision your dreams and goals and then create them in reality!

Jupiter in Aries: Ready, and ACTION!
This past Sunday, January 23, Jupiter entered the fiery sign of Aries. As the initial sign of the zodiac, Aries brings fresh energy, expanded even more so by the titanic planet Jupiter. How does this manifest for us? It means initiation, big time! Making your mark in this world is a signature of Jupiter in Aries. Depending where Jupiter is moving through your chart, the urge (perhaps urgent urge) to start a project, business, relationship, or make a major investment or purchase is likely to strike. The watchword is major and so whatever you undertake in the next few months is likely to have a stamp of permanence in your life for some time to come. Choose carefully and wisely. There is often the tendency to "leap before you look" with Jupiter in Aries, a feeling of invincibility, so please remember to consult and gather advice before signing on the dotted line.
In Roman mythology, Aries is the god of war, so this sign carries many flavors of the warrior. Places in our lives where we have not stood up for ourselves, hesitated or been a shrinking violet: Be Gone, says Jupiter in Aries. Now is the time to stake your claim, make your voice heard, refuse to take "no" for an answer. Think: Aries the Ram...pushing forward. There is a catalytic energy to Jupiter as it enters this new cycle of the zodiac, a take no prisoner flavor to Jupiter in Aries, especially with its challenging aspect to Pluto in Capricorn.
The potential combustibility of these two planets forces us, or any obscurity, out of hiding. One thing is for sure: all attempts to sweep things under the rug or keep them hidden will be useless. Expect to be exposed. You may receive invitations to speak and/or appear in public or in front of large groups as Jupiter in the first critical degree of Aries carries a highly public signature. Jupiter tells the truth. In Aries, it tells the whole, raw, unfiltered truth. And like a bulldozer over the next three months, Pluto will unearth any secret waiting for truth's shining light.
Two recent news items are examples of this: Oprah Winfrey just discovered she has a half-sister her mother never revealed. After meeting her new half sister, Oprah introduced her to the world on TV this month. The other news item also involves a family mystery: a woman searching for her birth mother discovered she had been kidnapped as a baby from a New York City hospital 23 years ago. She recently united with her birth family and her "adoptive" mother turned herself into the FBI. These are huge secrets kept for many years. In both instances, the children, as grown women searching for their identity, uncovered enormous lies and shared them with the entire world. Jupiter vs. Pluto!
The other big news this January 2011 involves the second titan in our solar system: Saturn. It turns retrograde on Wednesday, January 26th. With Saturn cycling through Libra now, sign of justice, relationships and art, we will be given the opportunity to review relationships of significance and bring these into balance. These can be personal, business or educational relationships. This will heighten as Venus makes a challenging aspect to Saturn over the next month. Any areas of our lives that are out of kilter will be a focal point so that we pay attention and restore harmony and equilbrium once again.
Last, the new moon in Aquarius on Wednesday, February 2nd affords each of us the opportunity to create inventive solutions to problems we may be facing, particularly solutions benefitting the whole rather than a few. Blessings to each of you!

Cosmic activity galore!
December launches one shift after another, preparing us for the next step in evolutionary growth.
This month, two significant events involve Geminii, sign of communication. First, Mercury turns retrograde on Friday, December 10 until the 30th. It is an excellent time for reflection, gathering yourself inward to prepare for the new year ahead! REmember: mercury retrograde periods are best focusing on "RE" tasks, REview, REnew, REfresh, etc. Cleaning out files and closets, getting rid of unused or unwanted items; taking time for a spa or salon treatment; RElaxing with friends and family you may not have seen in a while.
Often people think of Mercury retrograde as a negative time when communication is foiled and plans delayed; however, it is the universe's way of REminding us to slow down. Think about new ventures to unfold, purchases to be made. Hold off on signing contracts right now but do take advantage of this great time to plan anything: travel and trips, creative ideas, business models, are some examples, so that at the end of the three week phase, plans can be implemented January 1st!
The second Geminii event occurring later this month is the eclipse at the powerful 29 degree point. Think of any eclipse as an opening or portal to a certain area of our lives. In this case, the portal will open to communication as the eclipse falls in Geminii. Conversation is highlighted here, be it via phone, email, or internet. Uranus and Jupiter will form a challenging angle to the sun and moon during this eclipse further catalyzing us out of where we may be stuck as it relates to words and talking.
Earlier this week on December 5th, Uranus, planet of innovation and change turned direct. It is moving closely together with Jupiter, bearer of blessings and higher learning. These two are finishing a cycle in Pisces, the sign of music, self-sacrifice and dreaming. Working in conjunction, Uranus and Jupiter have been moving each of us to develop where we want to be in the next phase of our lives. Consider this to be a final phase akin to the dark of the moon, planting the seeds for new, initial work you will undertake when both planets enter Aries next spring. Aries is the time to initiate any new endeavor as it leads the way for a whole new zodiac cycle. Mid-month, Mars will challenge Uranus and suprises may erupt.
Finally this December, there is a gathering of planets in Capricorn. Mars joins its higher octave Pluto. As it passes over these two, Mercury will bring messages about power, reputation, and possible abuse of power in work-related arenas, big business, defense and government.
Best wishes to all for during this holiday season and the New Year! Consider giving the gift of an astrological reading for a loved one. See my website: www.hilaryharley.com to learn more.

November Blessings
November is the month for giving thanks. This year, November began with two beneficent planets, Venus and Jupiter, in retrograde motion. Retrograde periods are often perceived as negative; however, these are natural phases in life that occur, even for planets. Such phases provide a chance to rest and review wherever they occur. Many people have heard of Mercury Retrograde simply because of their frequency along with warnings or points of blame: "no wonder the computer broke..."
In the case of Venus and Jupiter, these planets typcially bear blessings and bountiful energy in our lives. Venus rules love, money, art and beauty. The expansive planet of Jupiter brings abundance to whatever it touches, ruling higher learning, spirituality, publishing, and freedom. These two planets have been in retrograde motion and both will turn direct within two days this month.
Venus has been moving backward through the sign of Scorpio, touching areas of deep psychology, money, sex and death. We are now witnessing the trials of Elizabeth Smart's kidnapper as well as the verdict for Connecticut's Petit family murders. Both of these trials involved issues relating to Scorpio. Now as Venus is about to turn direct in Libra on November 19th, we see a balancing of the scales of justice.
On November 18th, Jupiter turns direct in the sign of Pisces. Like Scorpio, Pisces is a water sign, infusing life with crystal clear, murky or stormy waters. Since Jupiter is an outer planet, it has been moving backward for a longer period of time. Its titanic energy coupled with Uranus, planet of change and upheaval, that have been traveling together for several months, has brought us tsunamis, hurricanes, and the recent cruise ship debacle. Uranus rules electricity. A massive power outage on a Carnival cruise ship stranding the passengers at sea is a prime example of these energies bumping into each other.
Next week both Venus and Jupiter will once again be moving forward, spreading their beneficence and abundance during the season of Thanksgiving and the holidays. Look at your life patterns for examples of how these magnificent energies work to help you.

Full Harvest Moon!
The full moon on Thursday, September 23 is indeed a Harvest Moon!
Every full moon brings heightened sensitivity and awareness. Projects and life experiences come into complete flower and fruition during the brightest light of the moon. However, the potency of this Thursday's full moon is especially strong.
Contributing to this moon's intensity are Jupiter and Uranus, planets of expansion and invention. The combination of these three are potent in and of themselves. But this troika also falls directly opposite the Sun and Saturn in Libra. Libra rules relationships and art. So expect the unexpected from those you know and love. People you may have thought would never budge on certain matters will make surprising shifts, catching you off-guard. These shifts occur seemingly overnight and may not feel beneficial at the moment; but in time are realized as the necessary push for soul growth. The symbol for Libra is Lady Justice holding her scales. Injustices or legal matters resolve, find their way into court or erupt.
Your inner artist might truly be sparked now; ideas and interests put off for years are finally committed to action. And artists of all stripes may find that projects seeded long ago are suddenly drawing long-awaited attention. Reap what you have sown during this abundant harvest moon!

Saturn in Libra
Today marks the planet Saturn's move into the sign of Libra. Among a number of things, Saturn rules karma, dharma, and time, therefore, current events. So for the last two and a half years as Saturn passed through Virgo, our focus has been on work and health. Now, with the planet's passage into Libra, our attention will turn toward the arts and relationships, specifically partnerships, both business and romantic.
Libra is ruled by the planet Venus. Think of the goddess Venus in Boticelli's painting, springing to life bearing beauty, charm, grace and L-O-V-E. And money. Libra is the great decorator and Saturn feels more than at home in Libra. Not only does it have time to focus on the people dwelling inside, it gets to decorate that home too!
Also occurring in the next few weeks is a major aspect of several planets, forming what is called a cardinal cross. This is an exacting time, one for truth telling, of coming completely clean. All hands on the table. And with Uranus conjoining Jupiter, long-kept secrets are revealed. More like suddenly popped out into the open. There will be some BIG surprises.

Lunar Eclipse June 26, 2010
The eclipse on Saturday heralds the "summer of transformation". Major planetary forces are afoot. Jupiter, planet of expansion conjoins Uranus, planet of change and rebellion, and both oppose Saturn, ruler of responsibility and karma. All three of these make stressful angles to Pluto, the transformer.
Wherever these angles happen to fall in your astrological chart, you will feel surges to do away with what no longer serves your best interests. This might include relationships, careers, belief systems, possessions, etc. The cycle this summer is one of: out with old, in with the new, in a clear cut, uncompromising way.
Eclipses are trigger points and this Saturday's lunar eclipse finds the moon conjoining Pluto in Capricorn, so emotional transformation is the watchword. Especially look out for deep-seeded matters involving your honor and integrity, responsibility, long standing tradition, career/professional life, authority, and prestige as these are keynotes of Capricorn. Because the eclipse includes Pluto, significant power struggles or hidden maneuvers may occur with family members, particularly mother-child relationships. Other areas also touched at this time are house/home, biological inheritance, food and/or psychological roots. These are all areas ruled by the moon and Cancer the Crab.
Best to take a few deep breaths before acting or answering!
